Troye Sivan’s latest album, “Something to Give Each Other,” was dropped on Friday, accompanied by a captivating music video for the track “One of Your Girls.”
The monochromatic video showcases the singer engaging with the camera while crooning the lines, “Look at you/Skip the application, interview, Sweet like Marabou.”
The video then takes an intriguing turn as Sivan appears in drag, donning a white dress and knee-high boots, and the song transitions into the poignant chorus: “Say what you want, and I’ll keep it a secret/You get the key to my heart, and I need it/Give me a call if you ever get desperate/I’ll be like one of your girls.” A notable appearance is made by the fortunate Ross Lynch.
Sivan had been hinting at his much-anticipated musical comeback in July, with the release of “Rush,” followed by “Got Me Started,” which samples “Shooting Stars” – both tracks are featured on his new 10-track album.
The artist commenced work on his third album following a challenging breakup. He reflected on the well-meaning advice he received from friends during that time, stating, “I had a lot of friends have that conversation with me when I was going through my breakup: ‘Oh, but you know, you’re gonna be OK, and there’s so many people out there…’ It’s hard to hear it at the time, and you know, you kind of doubt it.” Sivan continued,
“And then I lived it, and it was this journey that took way longer than I thought it was going to, way longer than it probably should have.”
“But I lived it, and it just felt so mind-blowing to me that they were right,” he added.
“So, in a way, I almost want the album to serve as me having that conversation with everyone else as a friend, being like, ‘Girl, I promise you.'”
