Actor Johnny Wactor, known for his role on "General Hospital," was fatally shot in Los Angeles after interrupting a catalytic converter theft.

Wactor's mother, Scarlett, confirmed his death, describing him as “a light in a dark room” and expressing deep sorrow

His agent, David Shaul, praised Wactor as a dedicated worker and exemplary person who left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

The incident occurred around 3:25 a.m. Sunday near Pico Boulevard and Hope Street when Wactor encountered three people removing a catalytic converter.

One of the thieves opened fire, fatally striking Wactor, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scarlett Wactor explained that her son, who had been bartending nearby, was heading to his car with a co-worker when he was shot.

Johnny Wactor had a passion for acting since childhood and appeared in 164 episodes of "General Hospital" along with roles in "Westworld" and "Call of Duty: Vanguard."

No arrests have been made, and the incident highlights the ongoing issue of catalytic converter thefts, which have surged due to the high value of the metals they contain.
